I just love and always have loved taking Black and White Portraits. The skill comes from actually almost seeing things in Black and white. A lot of photographers these days take hundreds of colour digital images, with no thought as to how they will be presented as a final print.
They then convert to Black and White afterwards when they decide.
I always know if Im shooting something in Black and white or if its going to be a colour shot.
95% of the time it will black and white that I have in mind. However if there are colours that are screaming out to be photographed, it would be stupid of me not to capture the colour.
Most of the above shots were taken by Ellen Von Unwurth and I do love a lot of her work.
I like a lot of other photographers more, but I'm a bit of a sucker for fairly contrasty portraits.
